I couldn't figure out why WWE was so pissy about fans having more wrestling to watch, then I realized it's probably more to do with having to pay the wrestlers more since they can go somewhere else.

Pretty much. The currently tl;dr of the 'news' and rumours is: WWE wants to push their way into the news around any and all AEW events, so media is putting less effort and coverage into AEW, all to try and drive WB to not renew AEW's deal (which was just renewed rofl) and make them not attractive to anyone else for a deal, all while getting TNA positioned as the domestic #2 behind WWE so WWE can directly control their "competition" and thus control pro wrestling in the USA.

Ya know, carny shit.

It's the UFC strategy, they've always been a bit worse than WWE, if they can't buy you they will counter program you, that's what they use to do to Strikeforce until eventually they were able to buy it. MMA in the US has basically boiled down to UFC or PFL, as PFL bought out Bellator MMA.

I truly wonder if people are grasping just how insane TKO is in their pursuit to be the end all be all of whatever industry they want to suck dry. This company is like if in the '90s Bischoff and Heyman were combined like Crystal Gems, sleazy with no moral values, and then given fuck you money.

I mean, it's not just UFC that has a history of this kind of thing. WWE has been doing this stuff since before it was called WWE.

This isn't even the first time they've tried to counter-program AEW; remember when Dynamite started and NXT suddenly became a TV product to run against it?

I don't discount WWF/E's bullshit going back to Black Saturday in '84, but I personally find TKO to be on another level, TKO comes across as more ruthless and has admitted they want you to think only of their properties when you think of the sports they promote.
