Not that it makes a difference, but was his mod for bedrock or java?

The point of the lawsuit is essentially one: Mojang has a track record of being generally very non-trasparent with their ToS, which have hidden clauses and get regularly modified without notifying and (even less so) acquiring the consent of the customers, which is (according to the author of the video and his lawyers) an illegal practice under the European Consumer Protection Laws.

More in detail, the whole argument stemmed from Mojang trying to stop this guy from publishing a mod that introduces guns in the game, backing their decision on terms and guidelines separate from the ones availabe on the website and actually kept secret from the public as an internal document.

Another point of the video (and the actual main point of the Class Action) is the fact that Mojang used the same sneaky ToS update technique to secure the right of deleting accounts at its sole discretion with the aim of putting a deadline to the migration of Mojang Accounts to Microsoft ones, thus forcing EU customers to transfer their data from a European company to an American one under the fabricated threat of losing access to the game they purchased.

I dunno about the gun mod thing but I hope they get raked over the coals for the Account Migration BS.

Lol or be me and lose access to the game i purchased before the nerther was even announced, even though I migrated in time.

I watched a few minutes of it and finally got to it... If I got it right, the guy suing them wanted to make a mod with guns. Mojang said no and got it shut down. He's suing because he believes a company shouldn't have any say over how users might modify their games.

Even the video description is too long and barely provides any information:

Mojang broke the law, and after a lot of preparation and a successful crowdfunding campaign, we are now ready to proceed with the Minecraft Class Action Lawsuit.

It's time to fight for our rights as consumers and ensure that Mojang can't restrict the way we are able to enjoy & play the game in a way that breaches our rights.

!!! Class Action Lawsuit Participation Form !!!

Google Form (US based form provider, data stored in the US with questionable protections / privacy): https://kianbrose.com/...

Formbricks (EU based form provider, data is stored in EU jurisdiction with adequate protections): https://kianbrose.com/...

Both forms are identical in content, the only thing that differs is the provider and thus in which jurisdiction the data is stored, where the EU provides significantly better protections than the US.

!!! Mooooore !!!

One of the questions that may arise is why we haven’t filed the lawsuit yet. In simple terms, class action lawsuits in Sweden function on an opt-in basis, which means that we cannot “automatically include” people without their explicit consent; where one of the objectives of this video is to collect the list of players that want to participate in order to proceed.

Secondly, whereas most lawsuits tend to be rather simple in terms of what damage has occurred, given that Mojang has been breaking several laws for over a decade, there are lots of different damages that we could pursue where we will have to determine which one has the best supporting evidence and will lead to the desired outcome. This will be determined by segmenting the participation form submissions into groups (damage types) where our lawyer will decide which group moves forward.

Another question that may arise is why it took 6 months to get to this point, which is mainly a combination of two factors: For one, the GoFundMe donations were not accessible for over a month, where I did not feel comfortable having talks with lawyers / law firms until I knew that we were in a position to start paying them for their work. Essentially, there were concerns about the funds possibly being subject to taxes (which in Sweden would’ve basically vaporized 50%) due to the possibility of the donations not qualifying as donations. Since I absolutely did not want to risk half of the funds getting vaporized due to taxes, I refused to withdraw them from GoFundMe until I’ve had sufficient talks with accountants to ensure that they would not get taxed and would be fully available for the legal process.

After the taxation concerns were resolved and the funds were available for use, it took a long time to contact and talk with every single lawyer / law firm in Sweden that specialized in fields of law that were relevant to this case (consumer protection laws, contract law, data protection etc) to get a good view of what our options are where I could then pick what felt like the best option for representation. This was very difficult not only because I had to get responses from everyone, hold meetings etc, but also because I had the stress and responsibility of picking “who” the funds would be entrusted to, in other words who would represent us the best. And even though I’ve never had to do anything like this, after all the emails, calls and meetings I felt like Björn Persson and Conny Larsson from Singularity Law AB would represent us the best based on their expertise in the field, interest in the case and how we communicated throughout the meetings; and while there may be some concerns about the choice of not going for a gigantic law firm for example, I stand by my choice knowing that I personally risk bankruptcy should we lose which is not something I would risk if I didn’t feel comfortable with the choice.

You can see their bar association registration here: https://www.advokatsam/... https://www.advokatsam/... https://www.advokatsam/...

And finally, even though we estimate that we have sufficient funds to reach our desired outcome, we never know how things will turn out in the future which is why the GoFundMe page remains open should you want to contribute to what we’re fighting for: https://www.gofundme.c...

As usual, I am always easily reachable through various platforms; announcements and progress updates are consistently posted through the lawsuit’s GoFundMe and Discord server and if you have any questions or concerns please reach out, I read everything.

Still didn’t provide the most important information: what laws were actually broken??

Great. Now I've read the transcript and still I have absolutely no idea what it's all about. The invalid link to the gofundme campaign didn't help either. That's not the first time I hear about a campaign, read a lot of words and remain completely clueless. People seem to be so focussed on their cause that they fail to understand that a significant part of the public just hasn't heard about it yet. You risk looking like a bunch of self-centered fanatics to anyone not within your cause.

Edit: ...and who the fuck is "we"? You might want to explain at least that much.
