Melania Trump has demanded that Hunter Biden retract comments linking her to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and has threatened to sue if he does not.

Biden, the son of the former president Joe Biden, alleged in an interview this month that Epstein introduced the first lady to Donald Trump.

The statements were false, defamatory and “extremely salacious,” Melania Trump’s lawyer, Alejandro Brito, said in a letter to Biden. Biden’s remarks were widely disseminated on social media and reported by media outlets around the world, causing the first lady “to suffer overwhelming financial and reputational harm,” he added.

Biden made the Epstein comments during a sprawling interview with the British journalist Andrew Callaghan in which he lashed out at “elites” and others in the Democratic party who he said undermined his father before he dropped out of last year’s presidential campaign.

Andrew isn't British. WTF?

[-] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 2 points 9 hours ago

They probably mixed up the channel 5 that Andrew runs with channel 5 news on ITN.

causing the first lady “to suffer overwhelming financial and reputational harm”, he added.

More harm than her reputation suffered by marrying that shitbag? I doubt it.

“Epstein introduced Melania to Trump. The connections are, like, so wide and deep,” Biden said in one of the comments that the first lady disputes. Biden attributed the claim to the author Michael Wolff. Donald Trump has accused Wolff of making up stories to sell books.

This is a case that can easily be won because he's citing what others said before him rather than making an independent claim. Not that he'll get a fair trial from this DOJ or the corrupt judges appointed by the shitbag, but oh well.

"Help, help! Some crack-smoking guy who my team loves to shit on repeated a claim that makes me embarrassed in front of our braindead supporters!" Boo hoo, you fucking tyrant-fellating asshole. Have another.

Streisand effect. Now everyone will know Epstein pimped her out to Trump.

What does Hunter Biden know about Epstein? Seems like the privileged failson is about to implicate his father, or at the very least his late brother.

Everything else aside, what kind of "financial" harm could she have possibly suffered? As if she would even know the meaning of overwhelming money loss.

i learned the hard way that the american system requires you to defend yourself before the accusation is supported; so you're going to need a lawyer that knows how to manipulate the judge into forcing the support to come out before you fail your defense.

Didn't realize the colony city of Philadelphia was part of Great Britain in 1997 when Andrew Callahan was born there. But, as I've learned, the original "British" accent brought to the colonies was very close to the current American accent.

First time I'm hearing him being British. Maybe they found this photographer from the UK and got confused, or maybe saw the video on his channel that was in England?

[-] XeroxCool@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

I believe this is also a downgrade from the tag he got when the interview had just dropped, "a youtuber known for crossing the country in an RV" as if he wasn't doing street-level coverage of 2020 riots/protests and doesn't have dozens of events covered like the Area 51 Naruto Run and flat earth conventions. Oh, and somewhere in the mix: crossing the southern US border via river just to see what it's like to get caught by border patrol.

I've always heard that the British accent from the 1700s was like a "modern" southern accent in America. Here's an inconclusive BBC article:

I heard it was in the NYC/NJ area, once the non-rhotic accents were excluded. But yeah, it's never going to be fully conclusive and it won't stay exactly the same. This is largely based on finding rhymes in poetry and trusting they were accurate then.

The quiet lady suddenly got very loud. Must have finally hit the nerve. Bullseye.

Andrew’s a Brit now? Someone should tell him.

Buddy, we all watched your dad’s brain turn into mush. We all thought that was a serious problem.

Turns out having a mushy brain President isn’t a huge issue anyways. So maybe you were right, Hunter.
