If you don't support the right to corporations to practically enslave people in the global south, you hate human rights/the global poor A simplified character crossing their arms smugly

/uj God these people fucking suck so much. It's always interesting seeing how they tip-toe around the topic of imperialism/the third world, since their ideology relies on them being exploited; and it defeats their whole "human rights" façade.

To be honest i don't have place in my mental health to hate people on the internet anyway, but this is very annoying to see on lemmy.

uncategorized If you don't support liberalism you are against human rights, simple as.

God if only the FBI would even defend liberalism

[-] buttnugget@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Simple as what? That’s what I’m not getting.

This is someone whose reading into liberalism only went as far as reading the name.

There is not nuance in this debate, they just don't know anything.

Lemmy.world news communities are shitholes

the Lemmy update which blocks an instance's users when you block an instance cannot fucking ship fast enough.

I might have migrated to PieFed by then though.

Can you be a leftist liberal? 🤔

[-] FundMECFS@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 weeks ago

Liberalism is by definition capitalist. It’s what gave us capitalism. So unless you only follow the social aspects (ie. social liberalism), then I don’t think it can be truly leftist, as in anti-capitalist.

[-] Quadhammer@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I see liberals more as social group than a capitalist one. The "free market" shit is tacked on by rich neolibs working the other side of the fence

[-] FundMECFS@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 weeks ago

I mean liberalism is by definition capitalist.

But I understand the usage of the word, especially in the US in recent times, has tended to mean something more akin to center-left.

[-] Quadhammer@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

It's not defined as capitalist it has a bit thrown in for "government don't fuck with my money" which rich people(neolibs) use as a shield

[-] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 weeks ago

"centre-left" in the US of course meaning "vaguely remembers being told nazis aren't good" in the rest of the world

Dunking on Liberals from a leftist, anti-capitalist perspective.

Dems keep working with trump to approve his picks, but what they won't accept is that if you sit down at a table with nazis, the only thing that's changed is the number of nazis at the table. @_cryptagion@lemmy.dbzer0.com
