Capitalism uses science in the same way religion does. It cherry picks the parts of science that it thinks helps its case and everything else is blasphemy.

It's kind of like how the Catholic church now believes in "evolution" but God was the one putting commands into the game engine console to make things evolve, and that the ability for living things to evolve at all is in fact proof of intelligent design.

Maybe just stop calling it capitalism and rebrand it greedism. Truthful and clear, easy to qualify as one.of the seven deadly sins for easy reference.

Greed is not a system, capitalism is.

With greedism, the distinction between systemic problems and personal values is lost.

That being said, the understanding of capitalism can be better explained by adding qualifiers, like

Rentier capitalism, monopoly capitalism, etc,

And understanding the differences with industrial capitalism.

Nah, bunch of asshole would say greed is natural to humans so greedism is the best system... Wait some asshole already do that!

[-] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 week ago

What would that accomplish?

[-] blargh513@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

Clear labeling for people who dont really understand what capitalism is.

Better to treat people with respect and just explain them. If we try to oversimplify everything, we make it confusing and create a section of people that are in the know, and a section that aren't. That disrupts the mass line.
