I love the uncertainty of the word "probably".

You can never completely rule out some J Robert Otterheimer being out there thinking up new technologies.

otter madness

[-] notabot@piefed.social 11 points 2 weeks ago

This is as bad as Zebras not understanding quadratic equasions. Do they teach their young nothing?

[-] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago

Eh, most people are unaware of how semiconductors work

[-] Sibbo@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah but otters are not most people

[-] robolemmy@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

And, sadly, most people are not otters.

[-] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago

This cuts deep =(

Especially for otters, how are they supposed to learn about magnets when they dissolve in water?!

[-] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Exactly! Otters and raccoons always lag behind on material sciences for just that reason

[-] thesystemisdown@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Most people are unaware of how most things work.

The American educational system is subpar! Subpar I say!

otters *

You're welcome.

I'm on the otters side here, semiconductors make no sense. For example the Fermi-Energy is supposed to be in the middle of the band gap but how that's just idiotic. Fermi-Energy is the point up to that we fill electrons but inside the bandgap are no states. Like defining the properties of an electron that doesn't exist.

[-] derry@midwest.social 6 points 2 weeks ago

I imagine they know how current works though

[-] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

But then how will they get into otter space?

[-] smeenz@lemmy.nz 2 points 2 weeks ago

Some otter way

[-] riskable@programming.dev 5 points 2 weeks ago

I dunno. They're pretty good with rocks. Given enough time they just might teach them to think.

[-] Hugin@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

And that's why MIT choose the beaver as a mascot instead of an otter.

[-] ceenote@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Otters just want to sail through life getting by on their looks alone. ^I'm okay with it^
