What keeps you tapping keys at 2 am when doubt creeps in, when the coffee’s cold and the page is blank; what spark won’t let you let go?

Having a true spark is rare for me. But I know that if I just write something, I can come back later and either rewrite it or edit it into something better. I'm more confident in my editing abilities than my ability to nail something the first time.

So I'm OK with writing something when I don't feel super inspired or whatever. I just need to get it down, first.

Because you are used to write maybe? (reference to: Having a true spark is rare for me.)

Could be!

Personally, I don't subscribe to the image of the tortured artist waiting and waiting for some elusive muse to bequeath the "spark." Writing is a skill, which like any skill needs time, repetition, and study to develop, just like any other skill.

As a beginner, this is really encouraging for me, because that means the more I do it, the better I'll become. I'm about 82k words into my first novel, and even though I know it's probably trash, I still feel like I've grown (if just a little bit).

Sometimes, you can have some mood, not motivated, tired, or you just feel like. It happens, we are human after all. Well, you did progress. Just need to look back when you wrote your first word now. Even if it is just a tiny winy bit. It is still something 😀 And if I may. What are you writing about? Besides, that keep it up.

YA Fantasy. I've been very influenced and inspired by Brandon Sanderson--both his writing, worldbuilding, and characters as well as his lecture series on writing Sci-Fi & Fantasy.

Aaaahhh Brandon Brandon... He knows what he is doing. I wish you to be the next Brandon then 😀 Let us and me know when your ebook/book is ready to be read 😀

Aw, thanks dude! It'll be a while for me. I'm still only about 80% through my first draft, and I know I'm in for some extensive rewrites and edits in the coming months/years. But I'll share it when I'm finished!
