I have the OSMand app on the Phone for offline and survival use. Plan is to search for campfires in an easier manner.

Right now, I have to zoom in (quite a lot), in order to even see a campfire icon.

I want to simply click a tag that displays all campfires and yet be able to zoom out a lot to see all campfires in the area. Is this even an option or am I just a moron and don't understand how the app works? (Don't answer that last part ;D)

(Mostly) unrelated to OsmAnd: with https://mapcomplete.org/nature, you can also see firepits and add firepits to the map (and even include a picture). If you add a firepit with this, it'll appear (eventually) in OsmAnd too

Amazing! Will for sure do this! Especially as I know where there are a few "hidden" ones. Even in places you need a boat to get to :P

If you search for "firepit", then choose the category (see image), then click "show on map" it should do exactly what you want :)

If you go to search, across to categories, down to custom search, type in firepit and add that. You now have a custom search you can overlay on the map ๐ŸŽ‰ I have an overlay that shows free toilets, very useful in London

where there's smoke, there's fire.

What is the significance of the campfire? Is is just a campfire or does it mean something else?

I think OP means a firepit

On a lot of places it's forbidden to light campfires outside of designated areas.

Yes. We have those too. Except in designated spots that are covered in a concrete/metal cylinder around the fire and a gravel ground. Luckily where I live, the restriction of having a fire haven't gone to the highest in the scale of 'forbiddeness' We had a nice BBQ and the burgers were amazing!
