I'm on this poll for positive news. All I see is this political shit. No matter right or left or communists - I'm sick of all of it.
Yeah I agree 100% with this sentiment. Every so often - say, every 20 posts or so - there's something that's actually uplifting. But most of it is just political wank, as you say. Or one was 'Israel finally allows some food into Gaza' which tbqh I don't find uplifting so much as absolutely sickening because it reminds me of how absolutely awful the context for it is.
Still, not gonna unsub because Lemmy is too small for me to be that picky 😅

Seriously, I'd bet for a heart attack to get rid of him sooner.
Trump will die a free man, sadly. The justice system has already made up it's mind and nothing he does will ever be punished, no matter what.
Now, how he dies is still up in the air. I think the odds are already not in his favor to have a peaceful death in his sleep. The best he can hope for is a disease taking him out at this point.

He figured out he can just pardon himself. He doesn't care how corrupt and amoral this makes him look. Shame is a distant, foreign concept to him.
Using Trump logic, the next president could still deport him to a foreign prison. If the supreme Court says, "You can't do that.", the president can say there's nothing they can do to get him back now.
Why are you assuming that there will be a next president while he's still alive (not a call to violence)
You know 2nd amendment exists for this exact situation rather than shooting up schools.

Once he's out of politics, he is still on the hook for the Insurrection and the stolen documents. Those cases weren't thrown out, they just went dormant. They can be revived.
Also, he has immunity for "Official" presidential duties. For example, he can't be charged with murder because he greenlit a drone strike on a terrorist camp that also killed civilians. That would be considered within his official duties.
But he can't use his office to solicit bribes, perpetrate frauds, commit election fraud, etc. Those aren't part of his official duties, those are crimes, and he doesn't have immunity to commit crimes.

The only real chance is with state charges. POTUS cannot pardon state or civil offenses.
