Hope this is okay here, I read the community description and I'm still not clear, but now I want to see someone slap an electric motor on and commute to work in an office chair.

Hope this is okay here

Mod here: Definitely ok, thanks for posting!

I wish every place had bike racks, there are plenty of places I avoid because they don't. They're losing out on business from me and probably lots of others.

As for office chairs, the closest I've gotten is riding down hallways on those office chairs with polyurethane casters (10/10, would recommend btw). You could probably get one of those hoverboards and use it as a sort of front wheel drive for a motorized version.

Oh the irony of using a sharrow with that slogan.

Commute in wheeled chair you say? I did that.

No motor back then, and mobile phones were the size of bricks.

Regarding bike racks, I posted this a while ago, with examples of good and bad bike racks: https://sh.itjust.works/post/9741359

better bike racks do exist, as many destinations have the older, terrible styles that were barely usable. Where you can, advocate for better bike racks and everyone will benefit!

Where I work it's an insane mix of good racks, okish racks, bad racks, and utterly pointless racks. Part of me wishes they'd standardize but deep down I know they'd standardize on something shitty if I said something. Some committee or board would probably take over and mess it up even worse.

Yeah when I wanna bike somewhere, the first thing I do is bring up (Google) street maps/view to find a place to park.

The pain when there is nowhere to park and I have to stash it in an alley is one that I shall never feel again.

I tell this to all my local businesses along the trails. Our local bike group has a good page on the various types of racks and I always give them the link so they don't put in wheel-bender racks or some other inferior design. They'll even hook you up with rack builders if you ask. VERY cool.

Re: office chair... I've towed an office chair before with my bike. It was fun but out of control! I used a rope as a tow strap and it would slide forward if I brake too hard. Of course no one was riding.

It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.
