These days both Twitter and Reddit have wacky UI messages written by completely different teams. One team is all business-like as in "Here's some stern warnings you're not going to like." The other team is all casual and wayyy too friendly and fellow-kidsy, like "Did someone say MEMES?" (to which most reasonable people respond "fuck you Elon/Spez, you're not funny")

Lemmy isn't much better. We still need communities that don't allow mod abuse.

If you get reported enough, the mods will censor or ban you even if you're not breaking any rules.

Oh, you can get banned here. It's not like this is like a place of free speech. It's just that the internet is kind of created little pockets of echo chambers. It is what it is. My account just got suspended for mocking JD Vance in a joke thread. I appealed and got a permaban in response.

Similar happened to me. You cannot say there is genocide going in Palestine. If u say that are temp banned for a day, then 3 day then permanently banned.

Reddit censorship is out of control. I got a warning about ‘violence’ today. My crime? I reported that the guy who is currently spamming every Australian mobile phone with messages about out the ridiculous Trumpet of patriots party is getting spammed back. I said “couldn’t happen to a nicer fascist”. Ffs.

They keep sending me emails trying to get me to come back and I'm like "Unban my fucking account and I'll think about it."
