yea most likely they want to reduce local and global support to Zelensky by saying "look we offered peace but he did not take", of course they will likely offer some unacceptable terms.
The greater concern is Trump lifting sanctions and starting to deliver military aid to Russia, or even worse, commit US troops.
That makes a lot of sense.
Does Trump care about constructing justifications for his actions though? Seems like he enjoys shooting from the hip and, if ever in doubt, opts for strategies that will piss the most people off.
