Recently I was simultaneously banned from a huge pile of "communities" with a mod commentary "for upvoting homophobic materials"(or "transphonic", I don't remember exactly). This kind of bans is the very reason why I quit Reddit. Is it normal here, or is it just some feral mod from Reddit?

P.S. Before you sidestep/offtop/ad-hominem here: no, I have nothing against LGBT folk and absolutely not interested in the theme.

Moderators can see votes on posts in communities they mod.

Edit: Take a look at this user's modlog, they are an actual transphobe.

oh yea, I remember your name! someone posted a pro trans meme saying "the world is better with you in it." and you responded something like, 'it would be even better without you'. I hope you get banned again.

You got banned from trans friendly communities for making transphobic comments, then upvoting other transphobic comments. The rest of your removed comments speak volumes about your character, so I suspect the rest of the bans are preemptive. I don't blame them. Reddit is probably a better choice for you.

Edit: Choice "I'm not against LGBT" comment quote -

So... People who couldn't keep from shouting about their "pronouns" irritated bystanders so much that they were ready to vote even for Trump just to shut up those crazy pronouns-bearers :)

Right.

Edit2: mein Gott, there's more! Totally no LGBT issues here.

Your response to this pro-Trans meme about the world being a better place with Trans folk in it:

BUT WITHOUT YOU IT WOULD BE EXCELLENT!

Right^2^. Did you not realize mod logs are public?

Thank you for documenting

That most likely wasn't a moderator, but an administrator. ~~The ability to view votes in communities for mods is not available in the latest release of Lemmy yet. That will come in the next release, 1.0.0.~~

Though I can't see any modlog entries for your account. Did you get instance banned and created a new account here?

[-] asudox@lemmy.asudox.dev 4 points 1 week ago

Oh, didn't notice that. Thanks for the info. Regardless, it wasn't a ban from a moderator.

[-] Lembot_0002@lemm.ee 5 points 1 week ago

Yes, this is a new account.

[-] asudox@lemmy.asudox.dev 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Okay.

I assume your previous account was @Lembot_0001@lemm.ee, which was instance banned from lemmy.ml. The administrator was davel. You can try and ask him if it bothers you, maybe even appeal your ban. Your new account most likely will be instance banned again if you try and engage in lemmy.ml communities again, given your username is pretty much the same.

Honestly, we got lots of active alternatives to lemmy.ml communities, as the majority here hates lemmy.ml. Don't be surprised if you get banned from lemmy.ml again. Check out !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com

[-] Lembot_0002@lemm.ee 5 points 1 week ago

account was @Lembot_0001@lemm.ee

Yes, it was.

The administrator was davel. You can try and ask him

Arguing with moderators/administrators is mostly just a humiliating waste of time. I'll pass :)

Lemmy.ml has been known for arbitrary bans for a while; https://feddit.nl/post/16246531

~~You'll be fine on lemm.ee~~

That said, seems like you're a transphobe, so you'll probably get banned from lemm.ee as well

[-] Engywuck@lemm.ee 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

This place is exactly as shitty as Reddit is. Just "decentralized". I have already mentioned this elsewhere. Don't you dare not being part of some circle jerk or to have a slightly unpopular opinion. And no, I'm not talking about LGBT rights nor anything related to it.

See, you're part of the problem, because you likely agree with banning/removing people even for slightly discordant opinions. And about the content removed for racist slur, I didn't have an idea that "Japs" was such a thing (not everybody is from USA, nor a native english speker, you know...). If our cared to read the entire thread, it would have been clear to you.

Congrats for having the time to virtually stalk me, btw.

[-] teft@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

”Japs”

I speak two languages. I learned pejorative terms fairly early on in my language learning endeavor since i prefer not to offend people with a simple mistake. Maybe you should do the same for english since you seem to be mostly fluent.

[-] Engywuck@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago

I speak 3 languages, for that matters, but let's be real, one can't be aware of each and every slightly offending term on each one of them. I can honestly say that I didn't read about "japs" anywhere and that I just found it amusing when it came to my mind (the thread was about an amusing meme). Anyway, I'll take care from now on.

[-] Lembot_0002@lemm.ee 4 points 1 week ago

Bummer. And do we actually have some more or less free-to-speak alternatives? I'm not some kind of religious fanatic assembling a nuclear bomb. I just want some reasonable freedom to say what I want. Nothing special.

[-] mitram2@lemm.ee 11 points 1 week ago

Due to the decentralisation and federation, you can find your "alternative" communities within the fediverse itself, or start new ones

[-] Lembot_0002@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

Even the most "crowdy" ones are semi-dead. I don't need internet to talk with myself in the case of "start new ones" :)

Well, I guess, I'll just try to stick with communities with fewer moderators.

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 6 points 1 week ago

.ml is notorious for arbitrary bans so I wouldn't think too much about it. There are active alternatives for most (but probably not all) communities hosted there. Criticizing Russia there is also a great way to get in trouble with the admins because they're explicitly tankies.

Yes banning people for votes, fraudulent, excessive, or made seeminly in bad faith is a thing. Mods can view votes these days but also admins have been able to view them for a long time.

[-] LettucePrey@lemm.ee 4 points 1 week ago

You know what? I'm gonna use this opportunity to preemptively block you. Bye.

[-] uselessRN@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago

Yeah man seems like the problem is you. Maybe you just suck.
