Thank you. It's crochet. The cross was crocheted separately and sewed on. The ribbon was sewed on as well.
Ravelry.com has lots of great gothy patterns. I don't knit, but I've crocheted my share of skulls.
There's something so punk about knitting/crocheting your own goth accessories, I love it.
