Just like internalized misogyny is very much a thing in women, internalized racism is a thing, too. It's sort of like a poor person aligning themselves with the rich against their own interests, if that's easier for you to visualize. All that to say, I agree with the other commenter— that cop is blue.

Heaven forbid we fix the actual problem, the exploitative nature of the sites themselves. No no, let's control the kids and keep them off certain websites instead, that's always worked so well before.

He wrote this for himself in his Meditations. So he wasn't telling this to anyone but himself, therefore not 'gaslighting' anyone. Beyond being a roman emperor, he is also a pretty respected philosopher, and that generally doesn't happen without having something interesting to say on the subject.

I personally think the company you choose to keep says a lot about you. There's being polite with your partner's friends and then there's being all over someone like a bestie. It's amazing how well her PR machine works that she gets white knighted so much, even on Lemmy. May I remind everyone that she is a billionaire and didn't get to be one accidentally. She's just as bad as the rest of them, she just pays people to make her seem not as threatening, and it's clearly working based on all the free defense she gets on the internet.

She's not your friend. Arguably, she's Brittany Mahome's friend.

Idk, the recent pic of her chummy day/night out with Brittany Mahomes planted quite a bit of doubt for me. There was a lot of speculation after those pictures released that she'd come out for Kamala, to get ahead of any backlash.

It looks like fabric scraps roughly stuffed with fluff. With a little help/guidance, a five year old could definitely make this. Working with needle and thread isn't some archaic lost knowledge, lol. I've found that if we have faith in them and let them try stuff, kids can do all kinds of stuff we don't think they should be able to.

You had me until the last sentence. There are a lot of deeply misguided—and plain fucking stupid—reasons that circumcision has become seen as the 'norm' in the US, but I don't think it's how the American people takes its aggression out on men?? That's a pretty unhinged thing to think. I understand the anger and frustration at genital mutilation of babies (bc that's what it is, in my opinion), but let's come back to earth a bit.

EDIT: since this comment is getting attention, I just wanted to add that it really does seem like people are waking up to how fucked circumcision is. We just had a baby, and as part of our stack of information brochures given to us by the hospital (in Oklahoma, a deeply red state), there was a whole page dedicated to circumcision pros and cons. You could tell it heavily favored not circumcising, and preserving bodily autonomy was it's own full bullet point on the cons side, as well as busting myths that people perpetuate trying to justify it still.

Also, in our infant care courses, they showed some really awful pictures of freshly-circumcised baby penises. We had already decided not to circumcise for obvious moral reasons, but that made us feel even more secure in our decision. I feel like more parents need to see that stuff to make them realize what's actually going to be done to their baby with the procedure.

All that to say, I think there's hope for decreasing the occurrences of this deeply awful cultural practice!

The pattern is this one! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-bear-hat-8

I made some adjustments, like starting with 8 rows of ribbing, then doing two kfb increases in row 9, before doing the rest of the pattern as described. I also picked up 10 stitches instead of 8 for the the ears, because of personal preference.

I was able to finish it in one evening, and I'm thinking of making another for his cousin that will be born just two months after him :)

Honestly, good. Should have given them more time instead of Hollywood celebrities that, frankly, seemed embarrassed to be there. People watch the game awards to hear about gaming, not listen to Simu Liu, Matthew McConaughey, and Jordan Peele monologue with awkward jokes.

I wanna listen to the people I voted for talk about the projects they love and worked so hard on. That was a huge moment for the winners, and they were just shooed offstage like they were randos no one cared about. What a way to sour their moment.

Super not enthused with how centrist this is. Comes off as more of the "can't we all just get along and live in unity??" stuff people say, when really they mean "the left needs to chill and stop making everything a big deal."

Kinda hard to just 'get along' when the other side is trying to destroy democracy and strip large portions of the population of their basic human rights.

I feel like Baldur's Gate definitely deserves it, hands down, no contest. Unfortunately I think Tears of the Kingdom will win simply because more people probably played it who never played, or would even consider playing, Baldur's Gate because it's not a "mainstream" big-name-company AAA release.

I almost wish there was a hell, so I could go to there and beat the shit out of Ronald Reagan.
