The only brown guy up there is Jesus, so it’s a strong argument

Has Avicenna too. But yeah, it's not a very universal overview... 😅

They made the Greeks awfully white considering how swarthy they tend to be.

If Marx and Bakunin had just given in to their clear mutual attraction and fucked out an ideological successor we could have achieved leftist unity and avoided a whole lot of suffering by now.

Might be some Lysenkoist biology in that plan.

Why is Aristotle spinning an invisible deck? 😂

[-] antonim@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 years ago

It's a reference to Rafael's School of Athens. Plato and Aristotle are in the centre of the painting: Plato is pointing upwards to the realm of ideal forms, and Aristotle is pointing forwards, into the empirical world.

Thanks, I figured there would be some explanation!

[-] ma3ve 3 points 2 years ago

Ok I will keep my dumb mouth shut now… thanks for enlightening me.

(Still an atheist tho…)

[-] samus12345@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

That's just historical human Jesus, not fictional son of god Jesus.

[-] ma3ve 3 points 2 years ago

Yeah I got that. I’m not that deluded :D
