Rich people. The answer for how things went wrong is always rich people.
The problem is greed, and it's very deeply ingrained in human nature, even if a lot of humans don't have it or control it.
Even collectively as an species we are too greedy.
The good news is there are simple solutions for when people take too much from the commons.
And who support rich people? Where do you spend your money?
My problems are because the rich. *
Yet you give them literally all your money and time. And will keep doing it *
You are not talking about improving society, you are just blaming.
Yet you give them literally all your money and time
And how do you know that the person you're responding to doesn't shop locally or work for a locally owned business? Some people practice their politics instead of just spouting nonsense
I don't know that's why I asked first but they responded with a meme instead.
But I was talking more in general and not about him or her specifically, I'm starting to get tired about the "billionaires this and billionaires that" while posting it in an iPhone 19 and browsing amazon next for the next rubbish to buy, many people do this.
I just wish we could talk about how we really got in this mess collectively instead of blaming because no one is free of blame (not even myself obviously), we can only fix our mistakes if we start by accepting them.
But I was talking more in general
You could have made that more clear. You came off quite pointed.
Him or her
Them is way easier to type and it's more formal.
I'm starting to get tired about the...
Lost me. People are doing what they must to stimulate their social needs. Let me say that again social needs. It's not an option for humans, we get depression and shit. We have to buy in to the bullshit at least a little bit because that's the system we live in, the best we can do is change it from within or start a revolution. If you're not starting the revolution, the best thing you can do is bitch about shitty circumstances until someone with the vindication does start the revolution
First of all thanks for the correction, English is not my first language, I appreciate it.
So... Yesterday in my country in a local forum someone asked regarding the tariffs, what should we do? Are we going to boycott the US? The general consensus more or less was that yes, that's what we should do. Then the excuses arrived, but I'm not going to give up Amazon, nor Google, nor Meta, how am I going to give up this or that? Then other person gave them good alternatives and he was totally ignored. I didn't feel that this was a social need, more like convenience, laziness and apathy. I mean, yeah I can kind of agree with you, there are some things I can't give up exactly because a social need, if I give up one service I get isolated, and yeah when I get depressed I eat sweets when I shouldn't... But what about the rest?
Anyway I am no one to tell you how you should live, nor I do have the absolute truth whatever that is, all I am saying is that if we buy into the bullshit (not a little, I wish it was just a little) then bullshit is what we have, and yeah we can bitch all you want about the bullshit we are in, we change or nothing will change. What did you mean when you said "change from within"? Isn't exactly what I am talking about?
And to be honest I didn't understand what you meant by this social need. Do we really need to buy all the services the rich offer us as a bait to be happy and content? I am aware that we have some needs to function in society, I'm using them all the time, but I couldn't use it as an excuse to the extreme bullshit we are in, my colleagues in my last job complained all the time about the stress and long hours in the job and then they spent all their money in "stuff". Is this the social need? They could work in a low stress job for less money if they didn't spend so much money in Amazon for things that nobody really needs. But instead they were working harder to get more money to get more stuff to buy, it was madness from my point of view not a social need.
I think that we're not actually disagreeing, if I'm reading this right. My point about social needs was mostly to do with social media. I could blab some science about how that affects our social needs, but that's not what we're really focused on from what I can tell.
We're both suggesting reducing/moderating our usage of corporat bullshit and particularly American corpos.
However, there is one thing that I noticed which I feel like you misunderstand, or perhaps I misunderstand you.
Stress and long hours in the job and they spent all their money in "stuff"
These are definitely not social needs, but a symptom of the lack of social needs being met. Humans crave companionship, and many people seek that in their items. I think you and I are similar in seeing the absurdity in this, but it appears that you find it more annoying than I do. There is one more layer to this, though, which we're probably intentionally ignoring; American corpos have monopolies in many areas. I know people who literally do not have access to anything other than corporations
Yes at this point I think I can agree with all you are saying and I don't feel there is anything I can add. Actually the symptom of a lack of a social need being met is something you gave me to think about.
Thank you for debate, have a nice day :)
Credit scores will look like a godsend compared to what's coming in our not-so-distant future
Born too late to buy a house and support a family on a single income. Born to early to experience the perfection of being a crab. Born just in time to finance my rented sleeping pod with credit leveraged against future dream-embedded advertisements for VPNs revenue and die of a seizure because the implant reacted badly to my 51% microplastic brain.
God dam I hate these low effort meme reposts.
What's the matter babe, you've hardly touched your

Granted humanity had to work pretty hard to get the planet to grow enough food. A lot of selective breeding went into making the food we eat today what it is, and in order to achieve that you had to invent agriculture and everything that came with it.
I don't agree with anarcho-primitivists, but there's a huge gap between "mmm, those spikes are growing exactly where I threw the husks of the same spikes I foraged" and having to finance a Domino's pizza.
Is "spikes" a euphemism for durian?
Well, back in the day, Grok Mugrock decided he could grow a lot more raspberries if he had plenty of wooden posts to build all the necessary supports required to maximize his productivity. Since Grok spent all his days growing raspberries, what he really needed was to barter resources with Ughugh Buh, who could provide him with all the wooden posts he needed. Problem was, Ughugh had heard this story countless times before, and way too often he would give people wooden posts in hopes of getting produce in return, only to be burnt by low lifes and scam artists. So, Ughugh decided to confer with the electric rocks and determine score for Grok that gives a very general assurance that Grok will pay many raspberry for wood posts. So Ughugh helps Grok, Grok pays back raspberries, and that asshole Goodoo get nothing because he make promise he does not intend to keep. Happy Day until sabertooth kills them all.
It's weird reading the responses talking about how much work it took to get humans fed. Folks, every other "lesser" creature on this planet has done it while finding balance. Humans are the outlier. We truly seem more like a sickness that's infected an otherwise health host than an "intelligent" ape.
I mean this in the nicest way possible, but those other creatures achieve balance with nature through continuous cycles of mass die offs or constant predation. I definitely agree that measures should be taken to make humans less of a burden on our ecosystem, but following examples of our local animal friends is not an attractive option.
We sure are good at killing both huge numbers of humans and animals causing many of the mass die -offs you're referencing...
It might not be an attractive offer to you, but I don't want to be here for 75 years as I decline both physically and mentally so some rich asshole can continue to pillage what's left of who I am for a few more pennies.
Ok. Godspeed 🫡
Have you heard about ants?
I have...
You think food just grows on trees?
When we started doing agriculture it wasn't because we wanted to: we did it kicking and screaming.
So, over a six thousand years span of time, they went from 0% dependent on agriculture to about 60 percent dependent on agriculture.
Love how that is being said on a phone which took international trade and industry to complain with.
