What do you consider "western leftism?" I was under the impression the term "tankie" refers to a subset of western leftists as well.
"Western Leftism" is more or less the leftism of the US, the UK, and of Bourgeois countries in general. Generally, it leans into libertarian ideals, the majority of Anarchist and Libertarian ideologies come from Western countries, and the majority of them refuse to accept Marxist-Leninist or non-western ideologies. The vaaaaaaaaaast majority of WL idealize anti-communist propaganda and blindly trust in authors like Orwell. They strongly fought against "Soviet Socialism", as well they're currently joining in the charge against the PRC.
I'm a western lefist, and I completely missed the part of your argument where you say why you think we're racist. Most of the "anti-communist" ideals I have a generally anti-authoritarian. The reason I'm against the PRC is because they're a surveillance state that uses genocide a slave/near-slave labor to keep control of their population.
Yeah, I don't disagree with you. I live in The US and even if you can get people to listen about leftist ideologies they are only receptive to Anarchism, Trotskyism or Democratic Socialism (the kind that's not even socialist) Most people are blinded with soviet era propaganda and pass that on to their children, even among the so called leftist groups.
that kind of implies MLs, "tankies," etc aren't Western leftists as well. separating material analysis from one's own societal conditions is more complex than just blanket-denouncing swathes of other ideological positions. I think if you live in the West and you're a leftist, that definitionally makes you a "Western leftist."
The purpose of this community is sort of a "work out your frustrations by letting it all out" where different leftist tendencies can vent their frustrations with one another and more assertively and directly challenge one another. Hostility is allowed, but any racist, fascist, or reactionary crap wont be tolerated, nor will explicit threats.
