Author’s comment: Violent bigots have a manipulative tactic where they pretend they only care about having a “free and open debate”. But there’s a catch: The debate they’re talking about is about whether minorities should be allowed to live. This is of course horrific because agreeing to this debate means you’re at least open to the possibility that it’s actually OK to murder people on the streets you consider to be lesser than you. The only reasonable response is to reject such “debates” and expose them as what they really are: Violent, bloodthirsty propaganda. The only winning move is not to play in this twisted debate game. It is cynic of them to talk about “free and open debate”, because they don’t give a shit about the values of freedom and openness when it comes to the life, freedom and dignity of minorities. Let’s not fall for it!
