Here's what you need to know- consortium news in 2016, the website was listed by PropOrNot as a "Russian propaganda outlet," a claim Consortium News strongly disputes, arguing it challenges mainstream narratives and exposes bias in media.

Article really is totally bias towards Russia and leaves out many well documented facts or any facts that would take away from the Russian narrative that Russian is the victim.

Interesting to read for the sole fact it gives you insight into what the Russian propaganda machine is pumping out.

Fact checking sites aren't reliable. Consortium News is run and was founded by world-class investigative journalists who won Pulitzer's. So I'll take them over a “fact checking” site. You must think people are stupid.

I'm not sure how anyone would read that article knowing anything about Ukraine and not immediately realize this article is biased and misleading. It is certainly bending the truth. I think only a stupid person would try and defend it.

P.S. I've personally been to Ukraine and also know people who are currently there. So I'll take my first person account over you or you're purposely misleading article.

The author argues that because there were civil protests in 2012 (1), after wich russia invaded the east of, and southern peninsula of Ukraine, Russia didn't start the war.

Because, as is well know, a country in political trouble can not be attacked.

There is no simple blame to be laid on an entire country. It makes no sense to blame "ukraine" or "russia". But it's obvious that certain people are largely responsible. It's quite clear that Putin and his pals ordered an invasion for colonial reasons. Now they got alt-imperialists writing pages and pages trying to flip the script. Pathetic. It's not some geo-political mystery. It's quite obvious whom to blame.

fwiw: Fuck USAian politicians too. Empire is trash regardless of the nationalist branding.

If New Zealand were to start bombing raids, install boots on the ground, and claim for themselves as their God given sovereign lands the conflicted area of Sudan would we also say that Sudan started it?

You obviously didn't read or understand the article. 🤦🏽‍♂️

This is probably the clearest explanation I've seen of the background of what people in here are saying when they are on the side of Russia in this. Thank you

Quite welcome — This is why I've left the Canadian left.
