My current setup! btw the black one in the upper left is a hand-painted (by my kid) Behringer Super Fuzz.

I'm glad you asked! It's not very clear from the pic, but the cables underneath are a bit all over the place:

guitar->QTron (first because then how hard you pick determines how much wah.. rather than coming after something with a buffer/compressor/etc.) ->Phase 90 ->e-lady ->OD-200 (I'm a "dirt before compression" kinda guy, a la Trey Anastasio) ->comp ->superfuzz (which I just use as an always-on boost lately) ->tuner ->El Cap ->DD-500 ->Specular Tempus ->looper -> JC-40 amp

Everything from the El Capistan onwards is stereo. The looper is actually not normally on the board since I really only use it in my bedroom, but the space was there so I put it! And lo and behold I did find myself using it once at a jam at a friend's house recently.

This is my layout today. I'll probably use it for a gig next week, but I might remove the MXR Layers. I don't need that for anything in our setlist, it's just fun to play around with. The bottom row is all in the NS-1X loop.

I am currently hunting for a Fuzz. That Waza Fuzz is a great pedal, but it's missing something I can't quite poor my finger on. So far I've tried;

  • Earthquaker Hizumitas
  • Behringer Super Fuzz
  • Earthquaker Gary (not really afuzz, but sooo fun)

What kinda job do you want the fuzz to do? So many awesome fuzzes out there.

I don't have anything specific in mind, I just really like them lol. But because I don't have anything specific, I keep looking for "swiss army knife" pedals.

For some reason I don't have a Big Muff. OP mentioned the green Russian and I do like the sounds of that one, but I'm also a fan of the op-amp version. Maybe I should get a JHS Muffaletta.

I'm a long time fan of the old boring Big Muff, expecially the green russian version. The EQD Erupter also surprised me positively: I'd never thought that one big knob for the bias control could give so much range.

The Qtron is the newest addition. I need to shuffle power connections to get the Carcosa back. The expression pedal is currently on the Pitch Fork, but I want to try it on the tremolo for a bit too. The EQ is mostly for switching between single coil and humbuckers.

I realize it is space efficient, but the sideways pedals are making me quite uncomfortable....

XD everything was fine until I got the Ironheart, now I need a bigger pedalboard I reckon.
But also I'm afraid that if I get a bigger pedalboad I'm gonna get more pedals...

😅 need enough side clearance to not worry about hitting the neighbor's knobs!

I'm glad I know the context for this comment haha

I saw your post about doing a video series on loops.video for building a kit pedal, did you ever post the series?

[-] pH3ra@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

I got stuck because the kit I was trying to build was missing a potentiometer and I didn't notice until after posting the first video. I still have to order the right one off ebay, I plan to get back to it but IDK when

What is this “board” you speak of? Do you not just have a tangled mess of pedals strewn across your carpet as dog intended? New pedal? No problem, add it to the pile. Not enough space? Never, who needs to be able to walk around without standing on stuff anyway? Ironically, I picked up a zoom B3 at a car boot for vey little recently, which is essentially a whole pedal board, and I’ve mounted that to a wall for use with synths.
