This was all it was about the whole time. The executive branch has been outright bought so Musk can avoid consequences for his businesses' questionable-at-best ethics.

[-] freddydunningkruger@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Just wait until NASA issues another contract to SpaceX so they can blow up another $5 billion in taxpayer dollars

There it is. I knew there was a reason

[-] 9point6@lemmy.world 114 points 3 days ago

This is just one of many reasons, for example

The FAA head pushed out by Musk before all the planes started crashing had fairly recently fined spaceX for safety issues.

It's just pettiness and entitlement. He's going after everyone who has ever said no to him.

[-] LostWon@lemmy.ca 87 points 3 days ago

I could have sworn at least 3 of the companies he pretends to run were under investigation by different agencies.

[-] MrVilliam@lemm.ee 46 points 3 days ago

This, starlink regarding Russia invading Ukraine, and I'm gonna guess spacex regarding government contracts? Idk about that 3rd one being investigated but it's definitely one of the many conflicts of interest.

[-] adarza@lemmy.ca 36 points 3 days ago

tesla has been investigated, as well.. so tesla, neuralink, boring, spacex and starlink.. old spice himself, x(sh)itter would be, his current government work would be...

so pretty much every fucking thing that elon musk has paw prints on is investigated or would be.

space x being investigated for dumping illegally around the sites.

[-] LostWon@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 days ago

Yeah, it's probably those conflicts of interest I had in mind.

That's what he'll target next, of course. These "geniuses" are so dumb and predictable.

[-] 4shtonButcher@discuss.tchncs.de 27 points 2 days ago

Seems like "drain the swamp" turned into "put the swamp monster in charge, give it steroids and flood the forest"

I regret that I have but one upvote to give.

[-] Eddbopkins@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago

Musk is a walking conflict of interest pos. So he just fires all the people that have a conflict with his agenda? The United States is fucked under this leadership.

[-] simplejack@lemmy.world 55 points 3 days ago

This shit is so fucking Russian. Blatantly corrupt.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

This kind of wacky xenophobia is fundamental to fascism.

[-] Olhonestjim@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Too easy for the rich to get out. Bring out the guillotines.

[-] fox2263@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago

Nope. No conflict of interest there at all. ..

[-] crusa187@lemmy.ml 33 points 3 days ago

This is one of the fun little horrors I’ve been contemplating recently. Wonder what kind of completely unhinged neuralink human trials will be happening this year?

[-] Ledericas@lemm.ee 27 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

musk shagged(surrogate) the head of the neuralink division in texas a and M and made her produce a child for him. he and the university performed unsanctioned experiments on MONKEYs causing them to suffer, and musk's response"they were going to die any ways".

when you are in a university performing research on animals, theres regulations and protocols to follow, they probably dint do that. this makes the university look bad for doing this.

We gotta get the dems back in power so they can prosecute elmo!!!

(yeah right lol.)

I feel like in 1820 you were running around blaming crops dying in the Democrats. These people will exist in the future! And if they don't stop everything before them and after them from happening, it's their fault! The fall of the Qing Dynasty, Dems fault. Dinosaur extinction.. never happened, the Dems made it up because they are still around us. You just can't see most of them because the Democrats!

We get it, the DNC is shit.

[-] painfulasterisk1@lemmy.ml 25 points 3 days ago

Awwww, how convenient. An illegal immigrant doesn't want to be investigated.

[-] roofuskit@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Gizmodo is a trash source, they are telling you what you want to hear.

These people were collateral from their scatter shot mass firing of all probationary employees. Breaking the agencies that regulate his businesses is the goal, but they aren't specifically targeting employees who are regulating his products.

lol.

[-] roofuskit@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

There's a difference between blanket firing all probationary employees and putting specific names of people working on regulating his businesses on a list to fire.

If you can't make that distinction in a discussion of how this is bad, then you are going to be dismissed as biased and making false representations.

There's plenty of dirt being done without having to make shit up to make it sound worse. The truth matters. People who don't care about the truth got us into this mess and they certainly aren't going to get us out of it.
