Most current conflicts, whether they involve wars and invasions in Sudan and Congo, gross human rights abuses in Afghanistan and Tibet, gang warfare in Haiti and Colombia, mass starvation in Yemen and Somalia, or political repression in Nicaragua, Belarus and Serbia, are under-reported, forgotten or ignored.

Empire (aka the "west") isn't ignoring these situations. Empire is directly responsible for them. If people inside the imperial core are unaware, that's by design. The imperial narrative always obscures and inverts its own culpability. Afghanistan is an amazing example. Tibet is a great example for the alt-empire. These places would be far better off if they were actually ignored.

The US is currently a Russian puppet state under Trump. The US isn't even acting in the interests of our allies at this point.

Most of Europe is a collection of democracies in a defense pact and economic union. That is in no way comparable to empire. Europe is historically responsible for the condition the world is in now. France is the only European country that still has real ties to nations in Africa. The idea that Europe as a whole still has imperial ambitions is completely untethered from reality.

We live in interconnected world. Ignoring each other isn't going to cut it anymore. We are on our way to putting the most peaceful period of world history behind us. Any country that values democracy, personal freedom, self-determination etc, are on the same team. The countries that want to carve the world into spheres of influence which are currently the US, India, Israel, Russia, China, Iran, North Korea are not on that team.

The EU and NATO are the kind of model we should want to see pop up all over the world in places like the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America. If smaller countries don't group together militarily and economically they are going to be completely overtaken by larger countries.
