Alright, so the person seems to be called "Dave Chappelle" and here are some articles I've found: https://www.vox.com/culture/22738500/dave-chappelle-the-closer-daphne-dorman-trans-controversy-comedy

https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-news/dave-chappelle-mocks-trans-people-new-netflix-special-rcna131765

I'm not gonna bother with this specific format anymore just like with the "change my mind" one and I will change the title of the post to give more attention to this issue as the meme is very popular.

There's origin of this meme format: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/yall-got-anymore-of-tyrone-biggums

Props.

fwiw people have made lots of variations on the "change my mind" meme that don't feature white nationalists. Same goes for the insanely popular Drake yeah/nah meme. I would not be surprised if the same is true here.

Yeah, I know about the variations of those but nothing came to my mind when thinking about this format or something similar to it. Hmmm...

Really? Memes have the jester's privilege imo.

These memes aren't criticizing or satirizing Chappelle or Crowder, they use them to make completely unrelated points. Which is just free exposure and cultural relevance for people who already have too much of both.

I just don't thing that giving attention to those people is good unless it's specifically about mocking them. Not like the second thing doesn't do the same thing as first one but yeah... Personal opinions and stuff.

Edit: also I don't get how anyone can be fine with having transphobes in their regular memes. Each your laugh will be accompanied by disgust of seeing a pos alongside the text.

Sure. I think doing caring so much has the opposite effect though. I literally didn't know it was him in the meme until now. Now here we are talking about and paying attention to the guy.

I'd have scrolled through the pic if you hadn't edited it.

Not using Voldemort's name is trash writing for kids and it's a trash way to live your life.

Nah the instance turns everything into Webm, losing pixels every day because of the shit google format.

[-] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 3 days ago

lol what? webm is just a format, not the best newer format but certainly better than jpeg, which people don't question at all.

[-] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Webp saves a bit of bandwidth for serving images and can allow up to 16383 pixels long images, which is all fine

But the metadata on some images is annoying af, they seem intentionally hard to download as it often just opens the image with a bunch of extra garbage in a new tab, I actually have to use an addon to cknsistently save them (as a format that works btw), and they have had critical security vulnerabilities in the past.

Fuck em. JPEG works. PNG works. Webp doesnt work but they forced it down our throats anyways.

those aren't format issues, those are implementation issues

you people just hate new things lol, can you please let the internet have new less terrible formats please?

[-] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Since the mod removed it I have recreated a censored version of the old comment, enjoy:

I can't imagine having implementation issues with the other formats, sounds like a format issue.

You just love big companies. You love google picking flowers with you, cleaning your kitchen with their massive profit margin broom rod. Can you please let the internet not to be forced to witness your sick fetishisms, please?
