Download managers (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

I've been pirating my whole life in mobile and rarely in pc. What are some the best download managers to use in windows?

Jdownloader2 is a god send when dealing with crappy file hosters.

Came here to post this, but you beat me to it. Jdownloader is incredible and also works wonders for downloading massive collections from archive.org

How so? is it better than idm ?

IDM only does direct downloads, or taking over downloads after waiting the timers or clicking the download button.

You can just give the download URL to JDownloader2, either direct or on a file host, and it will do the job. It supports many file hosts, which may be dealt differently from one to the other, such as needing timeouts, donwloading from folders, handling passwords (it would ask you for it), solving CAPTCHAs (it would also ask you for it), and so much more. Everything would be dealt and you get the file just from the URL you gave it. It's a versatile tool.

JDownloader2 doesn't support chunkloading though (without a premium subscription), whereas IDM does

Can't say if it is better per se, but it is multiplatform which is a requirement for me.

If you mean general download managers, then IDM hands down. It's so good that I bought it just to support the devs. Then there's JDownloader 2 however it's quite heavy for everyday use. It is a must if you use debrid services though.

If you mean direct download: JDownloader2

For torrents: QBittorrent

For usenet: SABnzbd

Do you mean torrent clients? If so qBittorrent or BiglyBT are very good

Vuze has always been good to me though I don't know if it is strictly "optimal."

I have been using idm for as long as I can remember.

I've been using Xtreme Download Manager for a long time. It's lightweight and has a browser extension, so it can easily intercept links. Some websites can't be easily intercepted by it, so I use JDownloader2 instead for that.

Kget works pretty well for http downloads.

I use Internet Download Manager and it has worked like a charm for me. It's paid, but you can find the pirated version easily!

I tried JDownloader but it didn't work for me, I'm kind of dumb though so it might have been my fault that it didn't work in my browser/computer.

Edit: wanted to add that for torrents I've been using Qbittorrent, imo it's the best
