The textbook claims the "military operation" in Ukraine was launched for “the protection of the Donbas and the pro-active security of Russia”, referring to an area in eastern Ukrainian made up of the Dontesk and Luhansk regions that is partly occupied by Russian forces since 2014. “Residents of Donbass were called “terrorists” because they wanted to remain Russian,” the text says.

Well yes. And the region has not been occupied by Russians since 2014. The people living there are Russian speaking population. They insurged against the coup in Ukraine and Russia military has been present since BTW the Ukrainian government bombed the civilians there, in the regions that declared independent from them
