Also, unless it's the first move of the game, you need a word on the board to add your own with a shared letter.

The word needs a U. That is the entire point.

Equality can never be the first word because it's 8 letters.

I think they've glued the Q and U together to make it easier. Technically that's one single 11 point tile.

It should be 7. It would’ve made more sense to have tiles on a board to make the word.
