I had never heard of this site but now I feel hopeful I can work through a couple years worth of humble monthly picks.

thank you, not even on mobile, but I embarrassingly clicked the icon of the post at least 3 times before I realized it's not actually set up as a link.
We don't deserve you!
Completing games
What is this new fad?
I dunno, man. The kids these days are into all sorts of crazy things.
Honestly, there hasn't been that many new games that have interested me this year, so I've actually been making headway into my backlog. I've noticed quite a few of my gaming friends doing the same.
I have for some time thought of categorizing my library with some sort of factor where I calculate quality per time spent, which I would base on dividing the steam score by the completion time. So short and good games would be on top of the queue, before long and good or short and middling, with long and middling at the bottom
I still check HLTB before starting any play through. My only gripe with it is the average time to beat always seems too low. Like these folks are speed running through it. Or maybe I’m just a slow gamer lol Either way I just add 20% to whatever the listed time is and that typically is accurate enough for me.
Me too! Like, are people just skipping all the cutscenes and dialogue? Following playthrough guides? Is there selection bias somehow?
Yeah the "main" times always seem way off. Must be people skipping stuff. I usually find somewhere around main+side or in between that and completionist is where my time usually is.
I've used HLTB as long as I can remember, it's really good for prioritizing your playthroughs based on your schedule, and seeing your average playtimes and genre to see what other games you might like.
A gaming community free from the hype and oversaturation of current releases, catering to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. Whether it's price, waiting for bugs/issues to be patched, DLC to be released, don't meet the system requirements, or just haven't had the time to keep up with the latest releases.
