LFF forward sums it up quite well. Where the point with the most pressing consequence is that he lied under oath to the privileges committee. If there is credible evidence, then it should be investigated as a possible criminal offence. Johnson was also part of a campaign that tried to undermine the committee. My point of view is that this is the most despicable thing anyone can do while under the spotlight of an inquiry. It is an attempt to subvert not only the sovereignty of parliament, but also the credibility of those who act for it.

He has consistently abused his position in parliament since coming to office. He has some very dubious history regarding his Russian connections, notably Lebedev. The Tories who kept this man in office for so long should be brought to account at the next election. He is a disgrace to all those who came before him, who genuinely tried to do good for this country. I have no understanding how we can even begin to consider his honours list. Allowing this list to go through is testament that we need something other than the Lords for secondary accountability. The process we have now is mired by corruption.

I doubt he really cares. Bruises his ego but then he sees his own "reality". The tragic thing is obviously the damage he has done to the country. The interesting aspect will be to now watch those who still defend him.

Everybody knows that all sins are forgotten with each new election cycle. Watch him coming back to the benches next year. He will not even apologise.

He only cares as far as his ego takes him, which is a fair amount - he started damage control before the report even came out (calling the committee liars, hypocrites, etc).

Good Riddance to Boris and Dorris.

He and Trump hopefully getting what's been coming to them for the last several years.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
