The noise scared my lizard something frightful!

Everyone was okay and no one was badly injured. Except for a patch of my lilies. But they're pretty resilient.

Glad you and your lizard are safe!

[-] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 21 points 11 months ago

Thank you! We were pretty fortunate this time.

[-] creditCrazy@lemmy.world 52 points 11 months ago

Lizard is looking at the camera like you seeing this shit

[-] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 21 points 11 months ago

Bearded dragons absolutely have a knack for stupid reaction faces!

[-] Acernum@lemmy.world 40 points 11 months ago

Time to buy a boulder to go in front of the window

[-] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 9 points 11 months ago

I'm sure someone will find a way to drive right over / through them.

[-] realitista@lemm.ee 23 points 11 months ago

You have to be happy for the little things in life like a car not smashing through your conservatory.

[-] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 11 points 11 months ago

Have you given thanks that your home hasn't been run into by a car today? ๐Ÿ™

[-] fitjazz@lemmyf.uk 18 points 11 months ago

I was eating at a restaurant one time with some people from out of town when a car drove past the window. Nobody really seemed to interested when I pointed it out until I also pointed out that there is not a road outside that window. The car had jumped the curb, threaded the needle between a stop sign and fire hydrant, and made it about 80 feet through the park before stopping. The cops were still dealing with the guy when I left the restaurant, he was clearly very inebriated.

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

He just wanted to check out your lizard

[-] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 12 points 11 months ago

There are better ways to do it that don't involve a phone call to the police, I assure you!

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

It is important that the cops also know about this cool lizard I found

[-] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 5 points 11 months ago

911 look at this dude ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Bill their insurance for your lilies. Driving is a privilege and drivers should take responsibility for their mistakes while driving.

Considering the damage they did to the other car involved (you can see their trunk popped open behind the wannabe monster truck), I'm sure they'll be paying in some way or another. They're certainly not getting away with it without significant consequences!

I just had some grass & a few flowers torn up, so I'm very fortunate. Not looking to weaponize the system against them. Just want the folks who suffered the actual damages to get paid. Hopefully this teaches the distracted driver a valuable lesson!

[-] Peter1986C@lemmings.world 10 points 11 months ago

Was that driver under influence? Nevertheless, interesting photo.

[-] kakes@sh.itjust.works 42 points 11 months ago

They were definitely on grass.

[-] Wild_Mastic@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

Get out of here. Also, take my upvote while you're leaving. (Nice pun i really appreciated it)

[-] kakes@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 months ago

(I'm glad you did, because I hated it, haha.)

Texting and driving, I think. Please do not check/use your phone while driving!

I believe they ran a stop sign, hit someone else, & proceeded to drive frantically up the curb. I'm very fortunate they stopped short of my home!

[-] Peter1986C@lemmings.world 4 points 11 months ago

I regard being on the phone while driving, as practically being "under influence". I mean there are some surprisingly similar symptoms...

And indeed, a good thing they stopped before hitting your place.

[-] froh42@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Speaking for a friend, they crashed the Mini Clubman S I love... sorry, THEY loved very much because of a WhatsApp that just arrived. Some one five cars ahead or so had to slam their brakes - eyes on the street would have made the reaction time "just enough" but even looking away for one second caused the crash.

Learn from my err friend, don't look at your phone while driving, even for a very short time.

Damage on the Mini was more than its worth at the time. No one was injured, but even what looks like a small fender bender can quickly get very expensive nowadays.

[-] GeminiFrenchFry@lemm.ee 7 points 11 months ago

Glad your scaly friend is OK!

Am I the only one who sees an alien trapped in your curtains?!

I looked quickly and that's what the pattern looks like with the way your curtains fall ๐Ÿ˜…

[-] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 4 points 11 months ago

You okay? How many fingers am I holding up?

That's one little chunky boy.

[-] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 11 points 11 months ago

He puffed up at all the commotion! Gotta look big and scary at the big noise.

[-] VelvetStorm@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Loving all that natural light and those plants! Hey, quick BD question. Has yours ever pooped on its own back? My now deceased dragon, once pooped on his own back, and I have no idea how, but I've heard from others that they are messy poopers.

[-] flicker@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Tell your kitty I love him.

[-] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 5 points 11 months ago

He responded with a confused head tilt and licked a cardboard tube.

I apparently don't speak cat very well, so interpret that how you will.

Everybody is talking about the lizard but what about the dough (clay?) with the lamp directed at it??

EDIT: nevermind, I'm an idiot. I had no idea it was a flat rock.

[-] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 8 points 11 months ago

That's a flat rock used for basking! It's supposed to be a bit more off-center from the heat lamp so that it doesn't get too hot, but he loves to flatten out/pancake on a warm rock.

[-] Retrograde@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Awe :) you're a good lizard owner. Just look at him looking up at you, like "is it okay to bask right now?"

that's for the lizard? xD

[-] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 4 points 11 months ago

Lizards are cold blooded so they typically warm themselves in the sun on some heated up rocks.

[-] Coreidan@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Time to set up some boulders to protect your house from idiots like this

[-] casmael@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

Yo what the fuck how did they end up doing that?!

[-] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 3 points 11 months ago

That's what the trees were for! But yeah, someone managed to dodge all that.

If this was a typical thing, I probably would, but I'm not too worried about repeat instances. I also am fortunate to have a crawlspace under my home, so they'd be hitting the bricks & rebar before they get to my windows.

However, with those larger stupid trucks I often see, neither a boulder nor a brick barrier would matter much.
