When "I gotta post on this" turns into "no one cares what I think" real quick. (I almost deleted this)

[-] Mewtwo 18 points 1 year ago

Or I don't know how to write what I want to say

[-] Smatt@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Language arts teacher here: for a generation that conducts the majority of your social life in text format... You should have paid more attention in my class!

[-] livie@iusearchlinux.fyi 10 points 1 year ago

Sometimes it turns into "fuck it, I'll inflict myself on everyone's eyes anyway". (The temptation to delete is strong though)

[-] QuazarOmega@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

If I can't be a warrior in the frontlines, let me be one on the keyboard at least

[-] CarbonatedPastaSauce@lemmy.world 26 points 1 year ago

Do it anyway. Lemmy will sink or swim based on interaction.

We need your comments!

[-] Smatt@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah I end up blathering away more now on Lemmy than I did on Reddit. Like some post over there with 1000 comments: 1, nobody's reading them all and 2, somebody already commented what I was going to say.

[-] CircuitCruiser@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

My first post!

[-] 21Cabbage@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Hey get out of my head.

[-] Jackcooper@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

I feel like I'm going to post more aggressively here than Reddit because 1) this place needs content 2) you can actually be seen, even in popular posts which was not the case in Reddit 3) less echo chamber shit (I think)

[-] slazer2au@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Fuck it. Post it anyways, it is all fake internet points.

[-] potoo22@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

No karma in Lemmy. We can't keep track of internet points.

[-] slazer2au@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

So that makes them extra fake.

[-] drmoose@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Just do it! I have a few doozies in my comment history but I think it was fun experience either way. Worst case you learn what sucks, best case you discover some cool new social interactions.

[-] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

It happens to me too often because I always believe people will shit on what I have to say. Gotta improve my confidence.

[-] TheMightyCanuck@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

Not me, writing a response to this... then deleting it because it's not good enough 🙈

[-] LemmySoloHer@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

[Insert Padme/Anakin 4 panel meme] [Padme]: But you're going to reply to this comment, aren't you?

[Padme]: Aren't you?

[-] 00Lemming@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

stares intensely

I end up posting the comment and regretting it 5 minutes later, so I go back to delete it lol

[-] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago

The number of times I write a response and posting it just won't work is also too damn high

[-] QuazarOmega@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

When sh.itdont.works

[-] topinambour_rex@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Same. I feel like it's either useless or oit of subject.

[-] wutamisposedtodo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Regardless of the perceived merit of your post I think we would all just appreciate a little more participation here.

[-] Pixelphoria@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

I'm precipitating!

[-] linearchaos@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I don't know, for me quality definitely wins out over quantity.

[-] gusals3587@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Hey, atleast I'm still upvote/downvoting

[-] Hemlock@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Thank you for using "number of" instead of incorrectly using amount as is the current trend.

[-] swade2569@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I can’t claim too much credit, this meme is from the before times.

[-] QuazarOmega@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Non-native here, can you explain why?

[-] tauonite@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago
[-] QuazarOmega@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Ah thanks!
It's kinda weird to me, but I guess it makes sense in the context of English having distinct words for countable and not

[-] Hemlock@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Amount is for things you cannot count. For example, an amount of water. If you can count it, use number of.

HOWEVER, English is not a dead language, so the definition of amount may just be changing.

[-] HunterBidensLapDog@infosec.pub 3 points 1 year ago

And yet here we are.

[-] Bendavisunlv6@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 1 year ago

There are worse problems 😂

[-] Angry_Maple@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

People are allowed to joke about minor annoyances, Benda. Lol

[-] Bendavisunlv6@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 1 year ago

Who’s stopping that? I laughed in my own comment. I have the opposite problem of posting comments I should probably not bother with. Like this one.

[-] ThaijsClan@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Happens all the t.... Ah nvm

[-] MajinBlayze@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

For me it's half the time when a community requires a language and my preferred app doesn't support selecting one yet.
