But donโ€™t just trust our word on this. Weโ€™ve also worked with independent, 3rd party security and privacy assessors to validate EA anticheat does not degrade the security posture of your PC and to ensure strict data privacy boundaries.

Uhm this is just their word that they worked with independent 3rd party security and privacy assessors. They should name those so that one can verify their word.

And even if everything they say is true, just because no vulnerabilities were found doesn't mean there aren't any. Or that there won't be any in the future. Or that EA won't be using it for bullshit.

In my opinion, the risk is vulnerabilities in their driver. Threat actors love a signed driver that runs at a level like this. Saw Genshin Impactโ€™s driver in an incident one time.

This is like having a random dude living in your walls, peeping at you through your vents. And when you call the police they say, "no need to worry, we have confirmed that there is indeed a random dude living in your walls".

I belive its secure because until now noone found an exploit in multiplayer games with anti-cheats yet and used it to install cheats during the finals of an E-Sports tornament or something.

glad im not playing anymore at battlefield since the 3. And didnt crack on the sold on steam for 2042.

2142 and 2 will always be in the heart though,

I loved 2142, 3, 4, and Bad Company 2. Everything afterwards has been a nope from me.

[-] TGhost 1 points 2 years ago

Didn't try the 4, and I don't even remember the maps of bc2. Just I didn't like them. The gameplay was different too and the sensations if I'm not wrong (crouch, run etc)

[-] BassaForte@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

BC2 only had a couple of good maps. but they were fantastic. Port Valdez in Rush mode was the shit.

I don't think I can ever get enjoyment out of a battlefield game again after 3, I don't know if the times were different or the game itself was just that fun to play, I did get the new one in hopes of having that feeling again but it doesn't feel like battlefield anymore.

We just knew before the "bad company's title" and even one on cartoon style (heroes ?๐Ÿค”). So the 3 was so welcome in a way.

Destruction of buildings but not all the structures sometimes. Metro !! Same spirit of the 2 (speaking about infantry maps, dont remember the vehicles) but with the new "tech".

Mechanics were not too different as before. But no glitching anymore. Special mention of the crouch and up indefinitely on 2142.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

There's still plenty of BF3 servers popping. Unfortunately not a lot of rush. Rush made that game, but for some reason people want to play conquest on it instead...

[-] TGhost 1 points 2 years ago

Well Maybe its time to go play vehicles in it ๐Ÿ˜…

[-] NotAPenguin@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

I played V a lot, great game tbh.

[-] TGhost 1 points 2 years ago

Like the 3 ? Same spirit ?

I ask for real XD. Do they have battlepass, seasons, meta weapons and this kind of Sh*** ?

That's simple curiosity of course, now I've seen this news, inreallt can't crack anymore ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜…

[-] FrankTheHealer@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago

That's so cool. I love that. Thanks EA โ˜บ๏ธ This will definitely make the game not a boring mess. You should do same with all your games. Even Sims 4. Cripple Linux compatibility and kill my performance so that we can stop those evil pirates.

/s in case it's not obvious

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 12 points 2 years ago

EA exec: I haven't shot us in the foot much lately, I think it's time we did some more of that.

[-] Cwilliams@beehaw.org 10 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Heck no am I installing EA's proprietary rootkit! There're literally viruses that have less power than that

[-] haui_lemmy@lemmy.giftedmc.com 6 points 2 years ago

Well, I bought the game so i own it (IP shills can shut it). If it stops working on my linux machine, I will pirate it. And I will start distributing it to others who bought it but cant play it. Which is probably even legal where I live due to consumer protection laws.

[-] Jaxseven@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

I would be fine just playing Bad Company 2 on community servers if that is an option. Haven't bought a Battlefield game since. I don't see that trend changing any time soon.
