Looks like the Ottawa sub has gone dark. Anyone end up here? :)

Hello and I wish you a warm welcome!

I think I've found a new place to throw shawarmas at cyclists. Now we need to get BaconSheikh on here.

I was on r/ottawa for 8+ years under a different username.

Once BaconSheikh and that Arthur guy are here, Reddit can burn to the ground for all I care.

Looks like shawarma's back on the menu, boys!

[-] UncleBadTouch@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

yup, and i think there will be a flood of new users like me in the next few days

[-] Prezhotnuts@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah it definitely needs some time to settle! Like I can't access this community yet from kbin. But that will come with time :)

[-] LilyIsWasHere 3 points 2 years ago

Yep just found this, hope it picks up some more traffic

[-] Prezhotnuts@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

I find some of the more popular instances are struggling connecting to each other. So hopefully that sorts itself out!

[-] sweca@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

Yep, hello from Gloucester!

[-] sbv@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago

Yup. I've got my complaints about driving, house prices, cycling, and dog parks all ready to go. /s

So far Lemmy seems fine. The Android app hasn't been great, but the web UI is workable.

Yep another refugee here.

[-] Pucky_B@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

New Reddit immigrant!

I suspect more will be migrating to Lemmy or Kbin, since Reddit is killing their platform

[-] Whooping_Seal@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago

I'm assuming most of us are from Reddit considering the mass exodus that happened

[-] Lowpass@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Finding out about so many new social media alternatives today.

[-] doctorplasmatron@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago

just dipping the tow in, so far so good.

[-] KennyOmega@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago

I am shocked at how they're strongarming the 3rd party apps. I've deleted my Reddit account - yes, and even my alt - and I'm not going back.

Yes sir. I'm surprised at how active this Ottawa community is already!

[-] zaphodbeeblebrox@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

Pretty much everyone here is from Reddit

[-] LlamaSutra@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago

Hello yes. Used to live there but lurk forever

[-] grahamj@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

raises hand

[-] JCSpark@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

Yep, but from the west side of Canada. Reddit's eroding and there are plenty of places for folks to get comfy around here.

[-] tartra@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

I'm here! Trying to figure things out in terms of the culture. :D I don't want to turn this place into an exact Reddit clone. We're like an invasive species to this place since it's so small!

But I wouldn't mind a little OttawaLoudNoises community. :)
