The UK had Thatcher, experienced decades of decline, and left the EU under Queen Elizabeth. It's not that things are suddenly worse under Charlie; they've been getting continually worse for a long time.

They only "officially" dont, but in fact they wield a huge amount of power over the government, there have been several scandals about it in recent years
