That's how you can tell someone is a Maritimer. "The other day" is anywhere between yesterday and 4 weeks ago. "A while back" is anything over 4 weeks ago.
Or from the American Midwest, we say the other day and it’s sometime between 2 days ago and our birth.
Crazy. For me it would be a few days at best, like less than a week.
