Switched yesterday and so far, really liking it. Might even say, it’s better than Reddit at the moment already.
No heavy echo-chamber/ toxicity (yet). Just waiting that it becomes more active with more communities.
I just switch a couple of days ago and I feel more willing to post and comment
My last day on Reddit I shared an excited post about a fun thing in a hobby sub of mine and I got such awful negative responses and people telling me I was attention seeking. It was really ugly. So that was pretty much when I decided to uninstall my Boost app and switch to Lemmy full time
I'm the same way!
What app are you using? So far I've tried Liftoff, but I'm looking for something closer to Relay
On Android, I've tried all of them that are out so far. Summit for Lemmy is pretty good but I'm liking Connect for Lemmy the best so far. I was a Joey for Reddit user.
I'm using Jerboa and have been testing Thunder since yesterday, not bad, but still a bit limited, we need to be patient and give the developers some time, there are already like 10 apps and a couple of forks of third party Reddit apps in active development.
I hope dbrady considers creating a lemmy version of relay. I'd be happy to pay for another pro version.
I've tried most of the android apps available so far. Summit and Connect for Lemmy are my favorites so far. I was a Joey for Reddit user.
The echo chambers are here, they’re just not quite as obvious. And, there are competing echo chambers so sometimes the whiplash between posts is a bit intense lol.
It’s probably because of the instances that some of the subs I’m subscribed to are in lol.
The great benefit of being at the beginning of a community, we have the ability to mold how this grows together and make a better home, we voted to shudder the Piracy sub because we all knew we needed to a new home now because Spez couldn't be trusted ever again, it was the ultimate form of betrayal to every one in his life who helped him get him to where he is today. Plus, they can't censor or control us any more, I believe our free will and free speech was important to unlock and grow to the next step, something Reddit had been impeding on in the last few years recently. The benefits are endless, and quite honestly I'm extremely excited for our very bright future and all the new friends were going to make!
