These are not enforced, but they are encouraged.

MODERATORS
It takes two is a phenomenal co-op experience. We did a couple of runs and enjoy the whole thing each time.
The gameplay was good, the story is awful.
We quit after a certain scene. It made us feel sick and we had no desire to continue. I had just recommended a friend to play it with their kids the day before and immediately told them not to.
Just awful.
Now I’m curious which scene you’re talking about. The storyline in my opinion was a bit shallow and at times cringy, but not sickening.
It involves an elephant and I'm definitely not the only one who felt this way about that scene and it's a very common thread for people to quit playing the game after this scene.
