Why are you scolding a species that makes it clear doesn't value life, even it's own life, for making light of murder?
I think you've taken the empty rhetoric humans say about themselves too seriously. In practice, with all recorded history as evidence, We are monsters, and the worst thing to happen to this world and most life on it since the Chicxulub asteroid.
We Americans casually toss our own people out on the street to die of exposure and police brutality while we loudly hate them for lowering our property values, all for the crime/sin of not being good enough capital batteries. Do you find that... classy?
