Just posted my “resignation” from the reddit Dt. Hopefully it’s not permanent, but I’m confident it’s for the best. I wanted so much to be a part of the gang when I started out, to walk away feels a little like losing some mates. But I don’t know how to stay when I’ve lost respect for the platform, the mods and tbh some of the community members.

Sigh. I actually completely missed whatever went on the past few days. Was on a cat sub from a Google search at 6pm last night and then saw the melb sub was open again.

Part of me really doesn't want to know which regs did what the days prior.... part of me really needs a break from social media altogether. I kind of just vaguely hoped the sub would reopen and things would go back to what they were slowly, but from your comment and seeing some posts here today it seems like there's been an irreparable rift beyond just what the admins and mods are doing.

Anyway it finally got me over the line. Hi guise

Welcome! You might like our thread of pet pictures if you need an extra dose of cats.

I have a massively hectic few days ahead so might be a while, but you best bet I have a stash of quality soxcat photos to drop.

hola! it's all a bit (read: a lot) storm in a teacup but i'm picking at some point regular shitposting will resume, this janky-ass platform has been pretty chill in the interim.

[-] just_kitten@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

Janky for sure but I can't say I hate the nerdy early 2010s feel about the interface too

Woop woop! You made it!

Thanks for the reminder to set up here.

It's such a damn shame, but at least we can continue to build up the community here. Tbh I was always more of a lurker than a poster, but nothing's really drawing my back right now. It's been nice to have some distance while everything was going down, and maybe I'll just keep it that way.

I don't blame you, I was myself a little shocked at how nasty things got back there. This feels like a haven and I am totally here for it.

[-] FunkyClown@lemmy.fail 7 points 1 year ago

Agreed. I'm still between both but I find the lemmy thread to be way nicer with less anger/trolls etc...

Yeah, I'm slowly moving away from it too. No matter if you support or don't support the whole Florida thing, some of the community were getting so hostile about it, and it made it into a bitter place I don't want to be a part of.

There have been some really nice folks here, and in the event that this is it and Reddit is dead, I hope they can join us here.
