And if you know what you're doing you're not creating one of those abominations.

Like, jank sometimes has to happen but when you're an electrician alone at the arse of the world with grid power down and a generator at hand what you do is disconnect the mains connection and bodge a male cord into there. Call it a manual switchover.

Source: I know enough about electricity to know I'm not an electrician (but enough to stump trainees).
