Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, will plead guilty to three federal charges, the Justice Department said Tuesday in a court filing.

Hunter Biden will plead guilty to two federal tax misdemeanors and one charge tied to gun possession, according to the filing in a federal court in Delaware.

This will be made a huge deal by the GQP but it will interesting to see what the full charges are.

I can see it already: "Ha! Hunter Biden did crimes! Do you think he should go to jail?"

"Well, yes, we do."

"Gotcha! Why should Biden go free when Trump is being indicted?"

"That's not at all what we said."

"Clearly you're just playing political favoritism! Witch hunters!"

Remember when Epstein was arrested and Democrats said Bill Clinton should be held to account and Trumpies were like, "Yeah!" but still said Trump shouldn't be?

It's a cult.

No no no. Witch Hunters?

It's Hunter Biden.

My argument has always been "if he's done the crime, he should do the time". And one of the things that always kills me about Hunter which perfectly illustrates your point is how much they hate the fact that Hunter has gotten lucrative jobs and deals based on his father's political standing. Yet when you mention anything sketchy about the deals that Ivanka and Jared got? They clap their hands over their ears or make whatever excuse they can think of for why those two shouldn't be held to the same standards relating to enrichment via political favors.

Next thing we know he will be running for Congress as an R. Credentials are there!

[-] Slartibartfast@kbin.social 22 points 1 year ago

I dunno, he seems to have actually filed a tax return so he might not be qualified.

😂 good point!

I'm interested to see how they spin the gun thing.

I'm thinking something like "they only want guns for themselves and want to take ours away!"

It's always the projection - they will support corrupt politicians day in and day out so they assume everyone on the left also turns a blind eye.

That will surely be top comment on r/conservative as soon as they hear of it, I can already see it.

[-] minorsecond@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

That's exactly what they'll say.

As of 15 minutes ago the article is no longer stating he pled out on the gun charge.

Currently it states

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, will plead guilty to two tax misdemeanors and struck a deal with federal prosecutors to resolve a felony gun charge, the Justice Department said Tuesday in court filings.

And then goes on to say

“A firearm charge, which will be subject to a pretrial diversion agreement and will not be the subject of the plea agreement, will also be filed by the Government."

My guess is they more-or-less dropped it as they didn't want him challenging the constitutionality of The Gun Control Act of 1968 like he said he would.

I appreciate this info… I’m a little disappointed though, because if it’s gonna get challenged… I’d love to see the maga crowd try to figure out how to be angry at hunter Biden for fighting gun control….

Probably with the same ease they dismiss Reagan having signed The Mulford Act.

Their position has always been perfectly logically consistent, and it is, "We are the in-group, fuck you."

I too care about using rich people that have actively sequestered themselves from the rest of society for imaginary board game clashes with other poor people! I want to play too!

I see your Tiger Biden and raise you a Dennys Trump with an armour boost of leaked pee papers or something!! Did I win? Am I doing it right? Wait, what, there's no winners? It's all for the sheer joy of the game? Okay!
