Good alternatives are always needed, though! I love Sync, but then I am also not sure it would be as good as it is today if it wasn't compelled to stay competitive with RIF, Baconreader, Apollo (to a lesser extent) and the dozen other Reddit apps that used to be out there (F in the chat).
Eternity, clean UI no ads/pay wall and fast
Especially hard to stop an app when mods get banned for criticizing it.
It's nice to see the Reddit tradition still alive. Where you post something out of context to make sure your agenda is pushed.
It's Scientology, question it or the leader and get hounded.

I wish the Apollo dev would've ported his app and migrated his user base. IMHO, Syncs popularity shows that the developer was able to migrate a lot of their old user base to Lemmy.
Yeah, that was clutch. Voyager, which is basically a total Apollo clone, never got that same level of visibility.
Iirc he added an announcement that he'd be moving to lemmy before the shutdown.
