Woke up from a really yucky dream in which I was running late to a final high school exam that was going to determine my whole life... Everyone at home was shaming me hard, and I couldn't decide whether it was still worth trying to make a dash for the "late intake". I called a fancy hotline that used a projector in my phone to cast a 3D hologram map in front of me, showing that no matter which route I took I'd be late. (And also cheerfully reminding me that the best way to get to an exam on time is to leave earlier! And take it seriously.)

I decided to RUN there instead, and was overwhelmingly relieved when I saw a bunch of people lined up at school including my primary school bully (?!); so I wasn't the only one who was a failure, I was part of a normal group ... but when we were allowed in (and of course had to complete the exam in the given time, 15% less than if we'd arrived on time) I realised I was so flustered I couldn't work out the answers to most of the questions and was bordering on a panic attack...

Then I woke up to the cat's routine morning screams to get me out of bed and serving her various needs. I HATE school dreams.

High school nightmares are very common. Had the same one for years - I had to do an exam which I had not studied for. Horrible.

One of my worst ones from a while back when I was having nightmares more regularly involved my adult self being punished for submitting things late and having to sit in a hall with other students for detention. Then I stood up almost in tears with a sudden epiphany - I have two degrees and a full time job, why am I still here??!! And I remember fighting to escape.

High school really shouldn't be the cause of so much background trauma for such a wide range of people...
