This.
I invested in my personal infrastructure a bit. Bought an old retired Dell R710 server for $100, installed proxmox on it. Nextcloud is basically a one-click install using a Turnkey Linux container.
My setup clearly isn’t for everyone, but if you’ve got $100 to spare for some hardware and aren’t afraid of running your own server, proxmox is free and crazy powerful.
Exactly. I got an R720 for AUD$300 and it runs so much more than a Pi could. I’ve got Home Assistant, Bitwarden, Nextcloud, Jellyfin, *arrs, Invidious, Gitea and some gaming servers all running on the one machine. On top of that it runs a Windows 10 VM with a graphics card running a music computer set up.
You can run so much on one of these it’s ridiculous. I wish I saw more people using them. PM me if you ever need help with idrac, I’ve learnt way too much about these Dell servers.
Edit: When I say music computer, I mean one for making music btw. It’s got 32gb of RAM assigned and can run as many VSTs as my partner can throw at it.
