Large Western corporations lobbying to force everyone to keep using coal instead of cleaner alternatives and even shutting down things like nuclear in Germany isn't helping.
It's the obvious capitalist for-profit motives which are frequently even contradictory to the well-being of local populations in terms of air pollution, datacenters etc that are responsible for a very large part of the problem.
Well, those corporation did not create the problem alone, but their lobbying over corrupt or weak politicians in the last 40years certainly is the reason we are still in that mess, along with their ability to buy medias.
But well, they are not going to solve anything by themselves are they? So what do we do? Live our life as right wing oppressors of the third world while mumbling about capitalism on the internet?
I'm a bit old to still wait for a revolution. I still hope for one, kind of, but I'm afraid the far right would use it to take over. I would participate though.
The only other way out I can think of is to change our habits, and slowly show other people that life is good this way, because it is.
Honestly the changes in the good direction over the past 30 years are impressive, even though they are slow.
On the other hand, Trump is so dumb that he might solve part of the problem by mistake.
