if someone is talking to me while I'm trying to read something, I retain nothing.
i cannot multitask. my brain just can't do it. i used to work at a place that had ear radios on while on shift. if I was talking to a customer and someone said my name on the radio, I'd just flip the thing out of my ear and keep focusing on the customer.
got in trouble a lot for that one XD. sorry, boss. i can't split focus. you'll have to wait.
yeah my last job exploded because my boss at jack in the box insisted i charge cars while taking orders over the headset
i could only take orders if i was putting them into the kiosk as they came. if i tried to remember that shit while talking to someone else to charge them i would remember nothing
and he got so fucking mad at me over it
heard so many similar stories from so many others in similar positions
tl;dr bosses in the fast food industry are ableist shitfucks and don't deserve the air they waste

That's weird. I'm the opposite. I HAVE to be doing 20 things, or my brain shuts off, and I put a shoe in the oven.
I can remember in the year 2000, I was online playing Ultima Online, with a second monitor open for internet browsing, and talking on AIM, while at the same time a TV was on and I was watching the Cleveland Indians take on the Chicago White Sox. While in picture in picture, I had WWF Monday Night Raw on.
And that's how my brain is going at all times. half a second focus here, half a second focus there, and then it blends. Both focuses at the same time. And the more focus's I have, the faster it goes. Pretty sure I could ride a unicycle while juggling buckets of water, and pluggged in toasters. Despite never having juggled, and never having rode a unicycle. It would just be the thing I'm currently doing as I do the other things.
But then if I ever try to focus on just one thing? Ok......let's just tie our shoes...........uhhhhhh...........what were we doing, and why is the house on fire?
