how do you boil prawns? (linux.community)
submitted 3 days ago by eli04@linux.community to c/asklemmy@lemmy.ml

don't want to stir fry them because I don't want to make a mess with my kitchen.

don't have an oven, so the easiest way to cook them is afaik boiling them.

Do I add salt and pepper while boiling or AFTER?

Do I peel em before boiling or boil them WITH the shell?

Do I need to boil them if I choose to prepare a soup with leeks and maybe potatoes?

I'd poach them. Salt the water and get it boiling, turn off the heat and put them in the water until they are just no longer translucent, like 3 minutes depending on how big they are.

Pull them out and season them however.

For a soup just add them at the very end similar to the poaching instructions.
