Finally got a real chainmail shirt and hood (coif)! Weighs 9 kg though the leg armour and sabatons are handmade by me from plastic. The gauntlets are also real steel. And the sword is only from wood and I left my real sword at home since I wasn't sure if I was allowed to take it to the castle.

Looking good.

I had the privilege to wear a coif and full Templar helm when I was at college years ago and it was a pretty comfortable combo but got warm quick due to the velvet lining in the helm. :)

I agree! Just the coif and a helm would be easier for sure. I had to have my brother be my squire and help me put the shirt on and off. But it wasn't too bad wearing it. I could feel extra weight but it was not uncomfortable and even moved in the wind. I could run around and swing my sword. I do have a helmet but it's a Norman style helmet arriving today and I also have made my own helmet with a visor sometimes called a close helm.
