Might be a local thing.
I see plenty of emojis used by the kids I work with but they don't seem to use that one much at all, but yeah I see the cat one. They like the poop one a lot more.
When boomers put up notices about how "NO ONE WANTS TO WORK ANYMORE" on their small business tyrannies and put ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ ๐๐๐ around it, that's not very light hearted.
Yeah I mean the kids are being light hearted, the boomers are obviously seriously mad lol.
It's probably a local thing with chat apps like WhatsApp fully replacing text messaging over here
I'm not anti-emoji at all but the "I'M NOT MAD LOOK AT HOW MANY ๐คฃ ๐ ๐คฃ ๐ ๐คฃ ๐ ๐คฃ ๐ I USED" is pure
and accordingly 
uses them a lot.
