The minister proposed the idea during a security cabinet meeting on Tuesday, where officials supported expanding the assault in Lebanon.

"Let's start thinking outside the box about Hezbollah," Ben Gvir said.

"Conquering territory and killing many terrorists, but also detaining their women and youth and taking them to terrorist prisons," he added.

"That's what hurts them the most."

On the other hand, he's the type of person that gets the remotely moderate politician like Yitzhak Rabin shot.

If he's getting Israeli politicians shot that's even better.

You're missing the quote marks around "moderate"

Rabin getting shot didn't work out for Palestinians, and he was only halfway trying to do anything good. What makes you think more extreme pariah status will solve the issue that Israelis firmly believe they own the land and see it as their home and have the guns to back it up? Israel could easily North Korea itself, never mind the nukes, and the people that would suffer most are the Palestinians. And no one's gonna fucking invade it to stop it because, again, nukes.

The situation in west bank is exactly as Rabin wanted a lesser than a state where Israel is still in control with palestinians traitors participating in israel colonial security while not protecting palestinians from settlers

[-] Astrealix@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

And yet he was shot for it, and as a result no one will even consider going left of that.

[-] mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

Yes. It doesn't make Rabin any better then if he wasn't killed though

[-] Astrealix@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

i'm not saying he's good, i'm saying that him being shot is bad. Especially when the alternative is fucking Ben Gvir.

I agree that assasinating Netenyahu won't help. Same with Trump because the issue is systemstic. I just have no faith that Bennett would be any better than any other candidate

Rabin explicitly said he adjusted the Oslo Accords so the Palestinians would not get a state but "something less than a state" and then he would continue the indefinite Zionist land grab.

There is literally no difference between Rabin and Ben Gvir in their end goals. Rabin just did it more diplomatically so idiots would support his genocide.

“We walked outside, Ben-Gurion accompanying us. [Commander Yigal] Allon repeated his question, ‘What is to be done with the Palestinian population?’ Ben-Gurion waved his hand in a gesture which said ‘Drive them out!’... I agreed that it was essential to drive the inhabitants out.”

I'm sure the many, many thousands killed in Palestine over the past 3 years are grateful to your belief that the guy who has been killing them is entirely identical to the guy who kept them alive as second class citizens but yet still alive.
